a day to myself

I don’t often get the chance these days to take some time out and do some photographs for myself, so recently I decided to do something about that.

Contacted Philip Price from Loch Visions, who is an amazing wildlife photographer and asked him if he would set up a day for me to photograph some wildlife. He suggested a combination of working with deer in the morning and then to make an attempt at photographing Red Kite in the afternoon….sounded damn fine to me.

In mid October I met Philip at the North West end of Loch Lomond National Park and we headed off into the countryside. Not exactly sure where we stopped but it was a large expanse of private land in the middle of nowhere, forests, moorland, and hills everywhere…. This is a regular spot for him to bring his clients to but he did warn me that it would be unlikely for us to see a Stag as this was the rutting season, loads of deer, so don’t be disappointed….First thing we saw was this magnificent, bellowing stag, pestering the life out of a few doe’s.

Spent the morning walking in around around these beautiful animals and managed to get into touching distance with a couple of them. I’m no wildlife expert and definitely not a wildlife photographer, so for me to see these animals up close and in their own environment was just amazing.

We traveled on into Perthshire in the afternoon to a a Red Kite sanctuary…maybe post some images from that later 🙂
